Pharmaceutical Sciences, B.S.

Pharmaceutical sciences encompass a broad array of sub-disciplines all grounded in the application of the basic sciences (chemistry, biology, physiology) to the discovery of new drugs, the development of novel drug delivery products, and/or the commercialization of medicinals. While a 4-year degree in pharmaceutical sciences establishes a strong foundation for those planning to become pharmacists, the BSPS is much more than a “pre-pharmacy” degree path. This degree will prepare students to directly engage in the research, application, production, and/or commercialization of new pharmacological therapeutics. Completion of the degree will prepare students for immediate employment in the pharmaceutical/clinical research industry, graduate school, or advanced training in a health profession (medical school, pharmacy school, dental school).

The program is designed to meet the needs of students interested in pursuing careers as research technicians, clinical trial managers, and data analysts in the pharmaceutical industry and healthcare systems. Additionally, it offers a strong foundation for those seeking to advance to professional degrees such as PharmD, MD, or DDS, or to enter graduate training programs.
