Office of Student Organizations and Activities

The Office of Student Organizations and Activities is the hub for involvement and engagement on campus! SOA makes it possible for University of Kentucky students to gain the skills, relationships and experiences that will positively influence their educational and career trajectories. We do this by creating intentional spaces and opportunities where students can develop as individuals, leaders, and community members.

Getting Involved & Engaged

Involvement is a great way for Wildcats to find their community on campus, but getting involved looks a little bit different for every single person on our campus. For you, getting involved might include opportunities like: joining a student organization, attending an event, participating in community service, joining a research project, or something totally different.

For more information about student involvement and engagement, contact the Office of Student Organizations and Activities (SOA), Gatton Student Center A154, 859-257-8867, follow us on Twitter at: @ukgetinvolved, or visit https://studentsuccess.uky.edu/student-organizations-and-activities.

Gatton Student Center

The University of Kentucky Gatton Student Center strives to serve as a “living room” for the campus through providing facilities, services, conveniences and programs for the University community which enhance their daily lives on campus. These experiences afford the opportunity to learn, know, and understand one another through informal association outside the formal classroom. The student is central to this mission, as the department serves as a laboratory for teaching student leadership strategies and human relation skills through work experience, involvement in student organizations, and experience in program development through execution.

From the wide range of dining options to our entertainment and educational opportunities there’s so much more in between the lines: UK Bookstore & Café, UK Federal Credit Union, PNC Bank, free wireless internet access, meeting/conference rooms, a state of the art Dolby Atmos cinema theater, WRFL radio, the Cats Den recreational and entertainment facility, as well as the UK Visitors Center, the Center For Student Involvement, the Martin Luther King Center, and the Office of LGBTQ* Resources.
