Nursing, R.N.-B.S.N.


Admission Requirements

The College of Nursing enrollment is composed of four-year, transfer, registered nurse, second-degree, licensed practical/vocational nurse, medic trained, and dual degree students. Admission to the University does not guarantee admission to the College of Nursing. Admissions criteria for four types of students are presented in the College of Nursing  section of this Catalog.

Degree Requirements

To obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, students must satisfy the University requirements for graduation, including the UK Core requirements, and obtain a 2.0 grade-point average in nursing in the courses listed below. A grade of C or better must be attained in all nursing courses. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for graduation.

Guided Electives


The UK College of Nursing offers a wide variety of cognate courses for undergraduate students to explore and develop more specialized skill sets in areas such as pediatrics, global health, health equity and addiction.  A complete list of the designated College of Nursing cognate courses may be found on the College of Nursing webpage.
