ID 121 - Design Studio 1 [5 Credit Hours]
Students investigate design fundamentals including design vocabulary; design process; creative problem-solving; theories of two- and three- dimensional design; relationships of form and space; spatial definition and organization; color terminology and principles; and the impact of the built environment on human experience, behavior, and performance. Students are introduced to digital and hand media utilized as a tool for design communication and ideation. Emphasis is on fundamentals of visual representation of design language and concepts; oral presentation of design concepts; and an introduction to two- and three-dimensional modeling and image processing software. Assignments reinforce concepts of graphic and oral communication.
