The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education offers three different initial certification programs at the undergraduate level: (1) interdisciplinary disability studies; (2) interdisciplinary early childhood education; and (3) learning and behavior disorders and elementary education.
The department offers graduate level programs leading to initial educator certification in learning and behavior disorders, moderate/severe disabilities, and interdisciplinary early childhood education. Students may also pursue advanced preparation in a variety of special education topics, as well as graduate work in counselor education with specialties in rehabilitation counseling and mental health.
