STA 305 - INTRODUCTION TO DATA SCIENCE College of Arts and Sciences

This course is designed to introduce students to data science topics, including data wrangling, data tidying, and version control; give students practice in creating variables/indicators, functions, for/while loops, if/then statements; expose students to concepts such as simulating data sets, and bootstrapping. This course relies on context-specific data analysis using current programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL, others as relevant), resulting in reproducible reports.
Prereq: STA 296 or STA 381 or equivalent, and MA 109 or equivalent. Approved for Distance Learning.
