The Graduate Certificate in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) prepares students to work with individuals, families, agencies and communities to address the impact of substance misuse. This certificate is designed to increase access to practitioners trained in substance misuse screening, intervention and treatment services by specifically increasing the numbers of SUD-prepared practitioners. individuals, families and communities who experience SUD.
The Certificate is designed to help students understand the etiology, neuroscience and comorbidity of substance use disorder. Further, the SUD certificate will identify strategies of intervention including evidence informed theories, 12 Step programs, medication assisted treatment, etc. This certificate is specifically designed to help develop practitioners who are dedicated to improving the lives of those who experience substance use disorder and the families and communities who support them.
The Graduate Certificate in Substance Use Disorders requires 9 credit hours as follows:
