Taxation Graduate Certificate

The graduate certificate in taxation is aimed at recruiting non-accounting majors who are seeking a career change and accounting majors who are seeking to earn 150 credit hours to sit for the CPA exam.

The prerequisite courses to the Graduate Certificate in Taxation are ACC 201-Financial Accounting and ACC 407-Concepts of Income Taxation.  Three courses will be required: ACC 507-Advanced Topics in Taxation,  ACC 617-Selected Topics in Taxation and ACC 637-Taxation of Flow Through Entities.  Students will acquire an in depth understanding of tax law dealing with complex issues, tax stategy and tax research which is not covered at the undergraduate level.  After completing the certificate, candidates will be prepared for careers with the IRS, public accounting, and corporate accounting at advanced levels.

Applicants would need to complete ACC 201 and ACC 407 and earn at least a B grade in each course as prerequistes to enter the program.  Both course are already approved for distance learning and are already being taught online.
