SW 520 - UNDERSTANDING THE DIVERSE NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

This course provides an overview of social work practice with children and adolescents grounded in evidence-informed practice including ecological systems and child development theories. SW 520 also provides an overview of the helping process with specific focus on engagement, assessment, planning and contracting, intervening, and evaluating practice. Lastly, this course offers an examination of fields of practice which primarily serve children and adolescents, including school and community-based practice mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice, drug and alcohol interventions and health care.
