BIO 647 - ADVANCED SENSORY NEUROBIOLOGY College of Arts and Sciences
Credits: 3
The purpose of this course is to explore the world of ion channels and neural circuits involved in sensory adaptations. In addition to extending your knowledge of primary senses (vision, touch, hearing, smell, taste, and proprioception) we will also cover extreme and unusual senses such as echolocation, electroreception, and magnetoreception. This course integrates a textbook-style ‘survey’ level of understanding with new discoveries in sensory processing from recent primary literature.
Prerequisite(s): Prereq: An undergraduate course in neuroscience, biological psychology, or a physiology course that covers some neuroscience such as BIO 350 ‘Animal Physiology’ and graduate student standing.
