This Undergraduate Certificate in Globally Competent Teaching is meant to supplement the curriculum of teacher education majors at the University of Kentucky. The certificate will provide students with the opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge, and dispositions to improve their global competency as pre-service teachers.
Through globally focused course work, students will learn about teaching strategies, resources, and tools to incorporate global issues and engagement, diverse perspectives, and intercultural learning and dialogue into their future classrooms. Several existing and new courses in the college offer international and intercultural perspectives on teaching and education. This certificate will allow students interested in working in the field of education to complete globally minded course work in a thoughtful way with the ability to earn a certificate indicating their global competencies in teaching.
