Admission Requirements

The College of Nursing enrollment is composed of four-year, transfer, registered nurse, second-degree, licensed practical/vocational nurse, medic trained, and dual degree students. Admission to the University does not guarantee admission to the College of Nursing. Admissions criteria for four types of students are presented in the College of Nursing  section of this Catalog.

Degree Requirements

To obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, students must satisfy the University requirements for graduation, including the UK Core requirements, and obtain a 2.0 grade-point average in nursing in the courses listed below. A grade of C or better must be attained in all nursing courses. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for graduation.

Guided Electives


Students must take two of the elective courses below, for a total of 6 credit hours. One elective must be a nursing course. To request approval for a course not on the list below, it must be a topic that would be useful for nursing knowledge or practice and must receive approval from the Coordinator of the RN-BSN Track.

Guided Elective hours: 6


TOTAL HOURS: 30-33
