The main goal of the B.A. in Art Studio is the pursuit of a broad liberal arts education that includes and extends beyond an Art Studio curriculum. This degree is available to students wishing to develop skills within any of the following: animation, ceramics, drawing, digital fabrication, digital illustration, graphic design, fiber, painting, photography, printmedia, sculpture, video, VR and web design. Students are encouraged to take elective courses outside of the major, pursue a minor or double major.

Art Studio Foundations Requirements
Progression Requirement
Students must have earned at least a letter grade of C in each of the premajor foundation courses to progress to major status.
To finish the B.A. degree in 4 years, students will take 2 courses with the A-S prefix per semester. Students are allowed a maximum of 3 courses with the A-S prefix per semester.
Students may request special permission to register for a 4th A-S course in one semester by petitioning the SA/VS Director of Undergraduate Studies. These petitions will be granted in extenuating circumstances only.

Foundation Exhibition
Each student in the Foundations Program must participate in the Foundations Exhibition during their first spring semester. Students will submit one work of their own selection from their foundations’ course work for the exhibition, present it professionally, and provide an accompanying artist’s statement. Participation in this exhibition is required and is tracked in *A-S 001 - FOUNDATION EXHIBITION .
*A-S 001 is offered spring semesters only and must be taken in the first spring semester as a B.A. major.

Major Requirements
- 21 credit hours of studio courses at or above the 300 level
- 3 credit hours of art studio at or above the 400 level
- 6 credit hours of art history at or above the 300 level
- A-S 490 Senior Seminar (3 credit hours; taken during the final semester of study)
- Participation in a Graduating Seniors’ Juried Exhibition in final semester of study

Electives
Students must complete 26 hours of electives.
