Graduates of the Clinical Leadership and Management program earn a Bachelor of Health Sciences (B.H.S.) degree. The UK Clinical Leadership and Management Bachelor of Health Sciences degree lays the groundwork for graduates to pursue graduate education and careers as competent, evidence-informed, effective leaders and life-long learners prepared to engage in ethical and interprofessional healthcare management practice. Graduates develop fundamental knowledge, values, and skills to lead with cultural humility and promote compassionate, efficient, responsive services to improve healthcare outcomes, the patient experience, access to healthcare, and quality of life for people in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond. Program graduates will be prepared to assume greater responsibilities at their current jobs, be better qualified for job promotions, and be positioned for graduate studies.
This degree program accommodates freshmen with an interest in healthcare administration, as well as associate’s degree, or transfer students from many allied health disciplines including, but not limited to: radiological technology, respiratory therapy, dental hygiene, clinical laboratory technicians, and nursing. Students who graduate from the Clinical Leadership and Management program may pursue careers such as: practice manager, patient experience, healthcare non-profit management, medical sales, etc.For additional information, go to: www.uky.edu/chs/clm.
Application Process and Requirements
The Clinical Leadership Management program employs a comprehensive admissions model in which a number of factors are evaluated. Students are evaluated holistically on GPA, test scores, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and fit for the CLM program as evidenced by essay responses. Admission to CLM is a selective process. The minimum GPA for consideration is 2.8 and ACT scores above 19, but meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
If a student has between a 2.25 and 2.8 GPA or for students whose course work is over 10 years old and below the required 2.8, there is an option to “Petition for Exceptional Consideration” for admission. If the student believes they have a strong case for admission, they may submit a petition to be reviewed by the Program Director & CLM Admissions team at the time of application. Petitioners also have the option to indicate if they wish to be present for review of their petition by checking a box on the form.

Students will have to maintain an overall GPA of 3.0 in the CLM Core Courses and an overall GPA of 2.8 in all courses. If during any semester the student drops below the GPAs designated above, the student will be placed on probation for one semester and if the GPA remains below 3.0 for the CLM Core Courses or less than an overall GPA of 2.8 the student will be suspended from the program.
