The B.A. degree in Dance in the Department of Theatre and Dance will educate its students in the history, theory, creativity, practice, and performance of dance within the context of a broad liberal arts education. Dance students master interpersonal communication skills that incorporate physical authority and assurance, as well as anatomical integration and awareness. The primary emphasis and central focus of the degree is based in creativity and choreography through the lens of diverse dance genres, with an emphasis on contemporary practice. Admission to the B.A. Dance Degree is selective, in that students will audition for placement and acceptance into the program.

Dance Technique: 12
Students are required to complete 12 hours of dance technique courses at recommended skill level. Four credits must be 300 level and above; 4 credits in Modern Technique; 4 credits in Ballet Technique; 4 credits in Jazz Technique. All Dance Technique classes are repeatable up to 12 credit hours.
Practice and Performance: 3
Students are required to repeat a practicum course 3 times for 3 credits total (may be a combination): Subtotal: Major Requirement hours: 32

Students may choose any TAD dance technique class; technique classes above the required 12 credits for the major will be counted as electives. Theatre Electives: 6
Students may choose from the following TA courses or any other theatre course in consultation with their advisor. Wellness and Conditioning Electives: 3
Students may choose from the following Life Fitness courses in KHP, or any other KHP course in consultation with their advisor and course availability. |
