Directed at non-majors, this course introduces students to the diversity of cultural experience in todayâ€™s world. Goals of the course include gaining an appreciation of the equality of everyoneâ€™s shared humanity and unique identities both locally and globally; to understand global experiences of cultural diversity through forced or chosen migration; to understand how categories of identity, including racialized, gendered, ethnic, religious, age, class and national identities – shaped by power – are social and cultural, and not biological.
